Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenHe enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his performance as the lead actor in The Killing as well as his appearance in two other critically popular Danish drama series, Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also appeared in episodes of BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). In the American TV series House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. In 2018, he was awarded an International Emmy Award for his role as Russian president in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. This was shown in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019. Mikkelsen is fluent in English, Swedish, German, and Danish as well as his native language. He also has picked up various accents. Mikkelsen stated that he and his brother were able to learn English initially through listening to Monty Python recordings and watching comedy sketches.
